Let's use an eggbeater to invade Iraq!

"An eggbeater and an aircraft carrier both appear as physical capital in our national accounts, but the eggbeater is not much use for national defense, and the carrier would not be much help with your morning omelet."

I thought this was a really good MIS because the author used an example that we can understand to describe a more obscure concept. In explaining social capital, the author wanted to let us know that social capital is not just social capital; there are different kinds of it that apply to different social situations. The guys you play foosball with in the pub might not be very helpful if you are looking for someone to help you get a book published. Conversely, your contact that would help you get a book published would probably not make a very good partner in a foosball tournament (if you can find a foosball playing book publisher, more power to you :-D).
